While most experiences at The Victoria Hotel are positive, some visitors note occasional challenges with service during peak hours, particularly busy dinner times. A few have mentioned that the heaters in the outdoor area may not always function properly, though the staff provides blankets as a thoughtful alternative. Although the pub is generally viewed as affordable, a handful of guests feel that some menu items could be slightly overpriced, especially on weekends when the crowd swells. A minor concern also includes the limited seating during extremely popular events, which can lead to long wait times. Overall, these issues appear to be outweighed by the pub's many strengths, but they are worth noting for prospective visitors.
What a fantastic pub. Visited twice with some work colleagues and I have to say that I would definitely recommend this pub and we will be going again. The bar staff we encountered on both nights were just fabulous. Friendly and helpful with little waiting time to be served. The prices are very reasonable, just over £16 for 3 pints of premium lager is great value. We had the steak pie with chips and the food is amazing. Triple cooked chips and a steak pie full of big chunks of meat and a rich gravy. Highly recommend.
Wow, what a wonderful pub, cosy, lovely smells wafting into the beer garden from the kitchen. Great beer, the beer garden is beautiful, all grass with lovely flower borders. You can tell the owners are very proud and so they should be. Very dog friendly to the extent the landlady has a hose to wash your mucky dog after a walk around the lakes, I can not recommend this pub with more gushing praise if I tried. If there is a perfect pub this is it!
Great pub, good to see it has survived. Came here for a birthday party in 1993. Just taken a bit of time to get around to writing this review.
Enjoyed a lovely pint there recently. The beer garden is absolutely massive with some games for children. It felt proper tucked away, as if we were on a countryside. There's heaters above tables but ours didn't seem to be working properly. But not too bothered because blankets were provided too which was nice. Dogs are also welcome which was a plus for us. I've heard good things about Sunday Roast over there so that's what we'll be visiting for next.
Brilliant food atmosphere excellent. Made to feel welcome. Enjoyed it
Great local with a great bunch of staff behind it. The food is basic but this place isn't about the food, it's about the atmosphere and positivity when you walk through the door. Pool table, log burner, T.V's with sport etc.. Great place with a good selection of beers.. After the new owner took it over it's turning into great place to go to!
We recently held a baby shower event at this venue. The staff (especially Janice!) were so helpful and really went the extra mile for us. The function room upstairs is a great room to hold events in and it was fantastic to have a private bar too. All of the guests (including the mother-to-be!) loved it...and they especially loved Janice's lovely desserts! I would recommend this pub as an events venue...thank you for having us Janice!
